Heading north on Bruce Road 12 in the municipality of South Bruce you will drive into the Town of Formosa where heritage plays a major part of the scenery.

On Formosa's North Hill you can the land crowned by the Stately Church of Immaculate Conception. It was built in 1875 &ndash 1883 by volunteers labour and parishioners and can easily been seen from miles away!

Just before you start your decent into Formosa on the right hand side is the new home of the Saugeen Conservation Area which is worth a stop just to pick up current paddling maps which will take you on an adventure as you travel your way up the Saugeen River.

Continuing along your next stop on the right will be the every famous Formosa Springs Brewery starting production in 1869 which now offer various types of beer. You'll want to stop at the retail store and pick up some beer for the weekend or gathering of friends and family.

The public school in Formosa is the Immaculate Conception School which falls under the jurisdiction of the Grey Bruce Catholic School Board. Not only do they provide a catholic education but it is also a French Immersion school teaching junior kindergarten to grade 8. From there the children can continue their French immersion studies at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Walkerton which covers grade 9 to grade 12.

Formosa is a short 5 minute dive to Mildmay to the south east or approximately 10 minutes north east to Walkerton. Either way, the drive will surely add to the adventure of exploring Grey and Bruce County.
